Is there an average cost for emptying my storage unit?
Cost is based on 2 things:
1. Percentage on how full is it
2. Size of the unit
In layman’s terms - Is it 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% full?
How often on average does my rent go up when I am using a storage facility? And why?
The average rental increase is around 9-12 months. The reason is because “you have made the space more valuable by staying as long as you have”
If we are a charity group, social group, lawyers or ANY services offering help or assistance to victims or people in need - can we contact SYS?
ABSOLUTELY! We Encourage it! We work off very short time frames but also in a variety of goods! You never know what we have - please reach out! We want to help as many as we can in any way!
How long on average does it take for us to empty your unit?
Our average is 8-10 days! But this is all based on the size of your unit and how full it is! If we haven’t emptied it in 4 weeks - we will pay your next month's fee! SYS GUARANTEE.
Where do your items go once you've decided what you want to keep? Or what you want to donate/toss?
SYS main purpose is to donate to DV Victims, Fire/Flood Victims and many more people in need! Some things are tossed and some things we help our storers sell! We also recycle your goods to different organizations trying to make a difference in a neat way!
How long do people usually store in a storage unit for?
The average “storer” checks the box for 6 months… The overall average of a storer and reality is 7 & ½ years.
If I live overseas - how do I trust you will show me everything inside? What if I forget about something?
We have the option for a live streaming appointment, we also have the options for a full film while inventory occurs!
Will you post on social media what’s inside my storage unit?
This is completely up to each storer. We always ask permission first - we then ensure no personal information or storage facilities are posted. This is part of our privacy policy.
What if nothing inside my storage unit can be donated?
This is inevitable due to the length some things have been in storage unfortunately. But this is when we move to our next list of businesses, charities and social groups who are trying to make a difference. You would be surprised at how much can be recycled!
What if I want to keep some things but still need storage? Can you assist with this?
Absolutely. We can help with the organization of a smaller unit and we will move your goods to a new unit within the same facility. It's a great way to start your decluttering journey and an even better way to save some cash!
How do you transport my larger goods?
We utilise the trolleys and have other equipment to protect your goods. Depending if you choose to donate, choose to keep or recycle your goods - it will be delivered the way it was found in the unit!
What happens if you open my storage unit and everything is destroyed inside from pests, dust, water leaks etc?
This can happen and does happen if you haven’t been to the unit for years. We will take photos and we then leave it with you to engage with the storage facility. We will provide as much evidence as possible. We are still happy to empty it if thats the solution that is needed!
How do I know if it’s time to empty my storage unit?
If you haven’t accessed your storage unit in several months or years and find yourself paying recurring fees with using the items stored, it may be time to consider emptying it.
Why should I consider emptying my storage unit?
Emptying your storage unit can firstly save money on the monthly rental fees, declutter your space and mind and potentially uncover valuable items that you no longer need and can sell!
What happens if SYS finds items of sentimental and emotional value while emptying my or my deceased family's storage unit?
Take your time to go through and carefully assess what to do with the significant items. We can extend our contract if you are struggling with your decisions. We know this is a very hard process and we have different exceptions that we can apply to you and your contract.

We prioritize donation & recycling. This is why the business was started. There are many incredible groups working with many different parts of our society trying to make an impact and we want to be a part of that in some way!
